Full time/long term Special Needs School ASD and communication/interaction difficulties 08:45 - 15:45 Leading pre-planned lessons/general TA cover Long-Term teachers work closely with a fantastic special school that looks after students all through their education who are autistic and/or have communication and interaction difficulties. The school requires someone that is able to essentially be an all-rounder, providing essential support and cover across the school where needed. The main purpose of a HLTA is to provide cover in classes, so you will be expected to lead lessons of pre-planned cover in a range of subjects. You don’t necessarily need to be an expert in the subject you are covering, but you must be confident in classroom management. There will also be occasions where you will be required to provide essential TA support, providing assistance to the class teacher. This role is suitable for a range of applicants; you could be an experienced SEN TA looking for more responsibility, an unqualified teacher wanting a full time role or a qualified HLTA. What is essential for the school is that you have previous experience in teaching/leading students and you have relevant SEN experience.
