We are seeking an experienced Programme Manager to support the delivery of critical water infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulations. This role involves coordinating a portfolio of water supply projects, collaborating with engineering teams, contractors, and regulators to ensure projects align with strategic objectives and industry standards. Flexibility and adaptability are key, as specific tasks will evolve to meet changing business and operational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Overseeing a programme of diverse capital infrastructure or non-infrastructure projects, such as production asset upgrades, refurbishments, mains renewals, and growth, ensuring they meet quality and industry standards
Contributing to a community of project delivery and technical expertise, fostering a culture of shared learning and professional development
Assessing proposals to ensure capital programme delivery solutions are cost-effective while achieving business goals
Facilitating the full lifecycle of water infrastructure or non-infrastructure projects, including planning, design, construction, commissioning, and handover, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and sustainability standards
Providing clear project updates to senior management and stakeholders, sharing insights on progress, risks, and key performance metrics
Managing and monitoring programme and project budgets, schedules, and financial forecasts, ensuring all projects remain within approved financial and time constraints
Engaging with internal teams (engineering, procurement, environmental, legal) and external stakeholders (contractors, suppliers, local authorities, and regulators) to ensure project objectives are well-defined and achieved
Identifying and addressing risks associated with infrastructure or non-infrastructure projects, ensuring contingency plans are in place to support smooth project execution.
Supporting procurement processes and building strong working relationships with third-party vendors and contractors to ensure positive outcomes
Enhancing oversight of all legislative compliance-related work
Applying construction design management regulations where needed
Ensuring all project information is processed and stored in accordance with GDPR guidance
Upholding industry best practices to maintain high-quality outcomes
Promoting a workplace culture that values collaboration, well-being, and continuous improvement, ensuring everyone finishes the day feeling supported.
Skills, Qualifications & Competencies
Proven experience in developing and refining capital delivery programme governance and processes
Experience in managing the delivery of complex capital programmes within infrastructure, non-infrastructure, utilities, power, or transportation sectors
Experience in guiding and supporting a team to meet programme management objectives while building positive relationships with stakeholders
Strong understanding of capital delivery processes and infrastructure planning
A collaborative approach to aligning projects with future business investment needs
Experience in effectively communicating complex and technical information in an engaging way to different audiences
Experience in proactively managing and reducing risks
A solutions-focused mindset and the ability to navigate challenges with confidence and creativity
Programme/project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2 and/or Association for Project Management).Proven experience in financial forecasting, budget planning, cost management, and reporting
An engineering or relevant degree and chartered membership of a relevant professional institution such as the APM or equivalent experience
Extensive knowledge of APM standards and principles.
