The Role We are looking to recruit a Assistant Respiratory Physiologist to join the Respiratory Laboratory at University Hospital Wishaw. The Assistant Physiologist will be responsible for assisting clinical physiologists in providing highly specialised physiological measurement service. The principle role of this post is to perform basic diagnostic investigations, sterilisation of equipment and general administrative duties for the respiratory laboratory. The purpose of this role is to assist in providing technical reports for patients to allow assessment and diagnosis of lung conditions such as COPD and Asthma. Please note - T he role is based at UHW, however travel to other acute sites will be required during the training period. No experience is necessary, full training will be provided. What we'll need you to bring SVQ level 3 in Healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role. Intensive training in spirometry testing from a clinical physiologist Ability to plan and coordinate workflow including emergency provision. An aptitude for planning, prioritising and making fast effective decisions and reporting information effectively The ability to work alone, independently and unsupervised Ability to deal with complex and unpredictable situations Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment.
