Senior/Principal Scientist (Molecular Assays and Display Technology)
Etcembly is a next generation TCR design and engineering company at the intersection between Machine Learning and Drug Development.
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join an innovative biotech at a formative point in the company’s trajectory. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in molecular biology and display technology platforms to test and characterise novel TCR molecules as potential drug candidates, and to generate training datasets for our proprietary machine learning models. You will draw upon your experience in display-based screening to provide insightful strategies towards effective data mining and triaging. The ideal candidate will have a strong drive and motivation to deliver, and as a seasoned and experienced scientist, you will be supporting various cross functional projects. You will also provide training and supervision to junior members of the team where necessary.

Key Responsibilities
● Employ in vitro display techniques for high throughput library screening, using guidance from experimental and computational data
● Develop tailored biochemical screening assays for specific applications
● Establish a robust workflow for TCR profiling, including potency and specificity screening methods
● Participate in scientific strategy planning and contribute to new ideas
● Document experimental data and effectively communicate scientific results through reports and presentations
● Troubleshoot experiments with minimal supervision and propose strategies to progress ongoing projects
● Follow and write protocols and SOPs
● Keep up to date with the scientific literature and developments in the field
Experience and Skills
Required:
● PhD in a relevant discipline with postdoctoral experience and/or relevant industrial research experience (e.g. in biologics development), or an MSc with comparable experience
● Strong molecular biology experience, including proficiency in library generation and QC, Next-Generation Sequencing techniques, and variant screening/selection methods
● Proven expertise in at least one protein display methods (e.g. phage, yeast, mammalian)
● Demonstrable experience in leading and advancing projects
● Adaptable mindset to be flexible in the face of evolving priorities
● A highly motivated and proactive individual who is invested in the success of the team
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team
Desirable/Advantageous:
● Past experience working with TCR and/or antibody therapeutics is highly desirable
● Experience in therapeutic protein engineering
● Ability to analyse data using custom scripts and/or similar programming languages
● Proficiency in tissue culture techniques and cellular assays
