THE ROLE
Want to see your designs worn by millions? As a Designer at ASOS, you’ll be plugged into 20-something culture and on the pulse of the latest fashion and trends that our customers love. You’ll need to be a creative, commercial Designer who works collaboratively with Buying and other Retail teams to create exciting, fashion-forward product for our customers, globally.
THE TEAM
The Design Team look for inspiration all around the world, along with street style, vintage shopping, music, art, the catwalk and all things creative, to design the latest product for the range. It’s all about newness and finding and designing the most exciting product for our 20-something customer, whatever their style.
What you'll be doing...
1. Strategizing seasonal direction for your department regarding shape, trend and first to market must haves for the Jersey Day Dresses department for ASOS DESIGN brand.
2. Researching, developing, and designing across multi-product category, including identifying key shapes for the season, selecting fabrics, and building a range for the ASOS customer.
3. Presenting trend research to Buying and other teams, where relevant
4. Using relevant sales data and insights to design commercially-relevant, fashion forward ranges
5. Sourcing new fabrications, techniques and trimmings.
6. Travelling to supplier appointment within UK and abroad when required to develop ranges and products.
7. Working closely with in-house Buying teams – collaborating to create fresh product, each season
8. Working with the Technical team on fits on a weekly basis, identifying and helping create new silhouette blocks for the department
9. Building relationships with suppliers and advising factories on direction, silhouette, construction, key details, fabrics, trimmings and artworks.
10. Managing and developing an Assistant Designer. Supporting with their development. Planning work load and prioritising deadlines.

Qualifications
Who We’d Like to Meet
12. Previous multi-product Design experience within an aspirational brand or high street Retailer
13. Previous experience of direct sourcing from fabric mills, with knowledge of cut and construction
14. A strong commercial handwriting and understanding of the ASOS Brand and Customer
15. Have experience in managing and mentoring an assistant.
16. Experience with Photoshop, Adobe, CAD
17. Comfortable and experienced in travelling in the UK and internationally for supplier/product development meetings and inspirational purposes
18. Plugged into 20-something culture and fashion, passionate about the product
19. Strong organisation skills and able to use their initiative and to work in a high-pressured environment
20. The ability to build great relationships with colleagues across the business and suppliers alike
