You will have the personal qualities, professional skills and knowledge necessary for this challenging social work role. Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills are essential, as well as demonstrating the ability to engage with other internal services and external agencies at all levels. Experience of applying a trauma informed approach to practice is essential as is an understanding of the interventions required in supporting people with addiction, housing and employability issues. Experience in Child and Adult protection is also desirable. The successful candidate will be required to manage a full range of statutory orders, undertake appropriate court and post release assessments, case management and recording and monitoring work using electronic systems. This will include undertaking risk assessments in relation to sexual offending in accordance with nationally approved tools and providing intervention on both a group work and an individual basis. As this post involves access and use of the ViSOR offender management information system and involvement in MAPPA cases, preferred candidates will be required to undertake Non Police Personnel Vetting, currently NPPV (full) Level 2. Possession of a Degree / Diploma in Social Work (or Social Work equivalent) with SSSC Registration is essential as is the ability to demonstrate commitment to continued personal development. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. It is an offence therefore to apply if you are barred from working with children and protected adults. In addition to this, if you have lived or worked in any country outside the UK in the past 10 years, there may be a requirement for an overseas police check. If you are not currently registered with SSSC you will commence employment as a Social Work Assistant (Grade 7 – £ 29,745 to £31,954) until full registration is obtained. The successful candidate will be required to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
