A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist with a passion for working with older adults to support the inpatient mental health service based at NewHaven, Bromsgrove.
We are seeking a motivated individual with a passion for older adult mental health and person-centred care.
The service consists of two inpatient wards: Woodland Ward for functional mental health care and recovery, and Meadow Ward, which provides specialist assessment and treatment for people living with dementia.

Previous experience in mental health is desirable, however is not essential.
Main duties of the job
Undertake physiotherapy assessments and treatment of patients who have been admitted into hospital due to their mental health needs, including dementia.
Promote physical wellbeing and reduce the risk of physical deterioration.
Use health promotion, interpersonal skills, and physical activity to facilitate recovery and wellbeing.
Work flexibly and in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and evaluate patients' progress.
Use 1:1 exercise programmes, group exercise, and support the Occupational Therapy Team with community assessments.
Educate healthcare professionals, physiotherapy students, and carers in physiotherapeutic management.
Improve the provision of physical activity through service development and quality assurance processes.
Provide physiotherapy assessment (as required) to the OA Hospital at Home Service. Work closely with other agencies such as the community mental health team, HAHT, Mental Health Liaison Team, and the Acute Trust.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will take a lead in the physiotherapy assessment and diagnosis of patients, including those with a highly complex presentation, using investigative and analytical skills. The Physiotherapist will develop individualised management and treatment plans using clinical reasoning and utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options to deliver specialised programmes of care.
There would be an emphasis on undertaking ongoing evaluation of Physiotherapy intervention, a commitment to CPD and peer supervision, and an expectation to support Physiotherapy students in their learning and development.
Clinical supervision will be provided via a peer support framework.
There is an expectation for the post holder to undertake Manual Handling Assessor training to support the delivery of mandatory training for clinical staff and to provide support to carers.
Membership of relevant Professional Networks is also encouraged.
