*Current Plymouth City Council apprentices wishing to apply for this role must contact the recruiting manager to ensure that they are able to support them to satisfactorily complete their NVQ qualification. Apprentices must also have 6 months continuous service and satisfactorily completed their probationary period before applying.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the new School Attendance Support Team and make a real difference to the lives of children and families. You will do this by working closely with schools and academy trusts in order to drive up school attendance across the city. In addition, you will be passionate about the importance of excellent school attendance and you will have a full understanding of the opportunity that education brings to children and young people as they journey through their lives.
As a council, we are a key champion of vulnerable children and you will welcome the opportunity and challenge of working as part of a child-centred multi-disciplinary team which will focus on ensuring that statutory duties relating to areas including elective home education and children missing education are fulfilled.
You will have experience of working in an education, health or social work setting and you will have a good understanding of statutory guidance relating to school inclusion and attendance.
This role is suitable for flexible working subject to the needs of the service.
