The R&D Technician will be a key member of an experienced engineering team based in Oxford, developing a novel neurovascular implant and delivery wire to treat intracranial aneurysms. The purpose of this role is to build small medical device prototypes according to verbal and/or drawing specifications and support internal testing activities under supervision from R&D Engineers.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Fabricate small medical device prototypes according to verbal and/or drawing specifications.
* Maintain written records of materials used, procedures followed, and inspection methodologies.
* Identify process/quality defects and manufacturing challenges and report to R&D Engineers.
* Take ownership of the organisation, maintenance, cleanliness, and storage of all lab equipment, materials, components, and surfaces.
* Perform dimensional and visual inspections on prototypes.
* Compile and analyse measurement and testing data results.
* Support or perform internal testing of prototypes in accordance with written protocols and test procedures.
Qualifications
* HND or degree in an engineering discipline.
* 0-3 years of experience as an operator, assembler, or technician (preferably medical device experience)
* Knowledge of processes and/or machinery and equipment used in the development, production, and inspection of medical devices.
* Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
* High level of dexterity.
* Ability to assemble small parts using a microscope for prolonged periods.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawing specifications.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Attention to detail and a willingness to acquire new skills and learn on a daily basis is essential for this role.
Working Conditions
The individual is required to be on-site to fulfil their duties and responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
This job requires the assembly of small components under a microscope for prolonged periods.
