We have an exciting opportunity available for a Networks Engineer (Welding) to join our Networks team in Thomastown VIC, Eagle Farm QLD, or Kidman Park SA, on a Permanent Fulltime basis.
Reporting to the Team Lead, Major Projects, you will complete welding, testing, and quality management solutions to projects from concept through to commissioning and asset integrity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare Engineering design documentation including pipeline calculations, SOW, specifications, and datasheets.
2. Understand piping and pipeline material requirements and be familiar with both Australian and International Standards.
3. Prepare welding procedures including in-service welding procedures and provide input to technical and process continuous improvement.
4. Specify and review 3rd Party NDT results for transmission and distribution assets.
5. Review, check, and approve 3rd Party welding documentation including welding procedures, welders’ qualification, and quality requirements.
6. Review and approve Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and perform weld modelling (preferably using PRCI) to qualify current welding procedures where necessary.
7. Manage priorities within project schedules and provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and emergency leak repairs.
Your background
1. Tertiary qualification in Mechanical / Material or Welding Engineering and member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia or equivalent.
2. Strong experience in the Welding of gas transmission, distribution, facilities, gas processing, LNG, chemical process power generation, utilities, or associated industries.
3. Knowledge of pipeline welding (including in-service welding) and repair processes and procedures as per AS2885, AS4041, and AS4645.
4. Strong understanding of essential elements of project management - scope, time, cost, quality, risk, communications, and contracts.
5. Able to work effectively across the business on a national basis and facilitate and implement change.

Networks manages and operates transmission pipelines and local distribution networks that deliver gas to around 1.4 million households and businesses across Australia.
This is an exciting time for the Networks team; we are growing and expanding with many new projects, including the 2032 Olympics. We also have a strong culture of continuous improvement and are working towards Net Zero with the introduction of renewable green gas into the Gas Networks.
