We have an opportunity for a Medical Records Officer to join their team of staff in the Medical Records department.
This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week, covering a flexible shift pattern.
The role is physically demanding and will require moving and handling of Medical Records around the hospital.
The role is not office-based and is 50% spent distributing and collecting Medical Records, and maintaining collected and returned Medical Records.
A high level of attention to detail is paramount due to the sensitivity of the medical record and GDPR.
Applicants will be required to work a 4-week rolling rota consisting of shift patterns:
1. Week 1: 07:30-15:30 Monday to Friday
2. Week 2: 08:00-16:00 Monday to Friday
3. Week 3: 10:00-18:00 Monday to Friday
4. Week 4: 11:00-19:00 Monday to Friday
Please note that although the department is not currently manned on a Saturday, this could become a requirement in the future.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
* Maths and English GCSE at grades A to C or equivalent functional skills level 2 evidence.
* Proficient in the use of a PC, including software and systems.
* Previous experience in a hospital setting.
* Ability to work within a team.
* Customer service experience.
Duties of this role include:
* Providing a comprehensive set of Medical notes for both Inpatient and Outpatient activity for the complete patient journey, namely the Single Patient Record (SPR) within the agreed Hospital SLA.
* Storing, filing, and tracking records in line with local processes.
* Providing notes upon request for Clinical Governance, Audits, Secretaries, and Consultants, following the Information Security Policy.
* Operating strictly within Data Protection Act legislation and data protection policies.
* Preparing Medical Records for Outpatient Clinics, Pre-Assessment clinics, Telephone Pre-Assessments, and Admissions within the agreed SLA and according to local processes with acute attention to detail.
