Regional H&S Advisor – Northern UK
£50,000 - £55,000, plus Car Allowance, Bonus, Pension, Life Insurance, etc.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
As a Regional Health and Safety Advisor, you’ll be the driving force behind our commitment to a safe and compliant workplace. You’ll provide both operational and strategic support where Health and Safety expertise is needed, ensuring our managers and employees are well-informed and equipped to uphold the highest safety standards across the business.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Co-ordinate and support managers in the investigation of accidents and incidents using the preferred business tool.
2. Report all safety-related incidents and assist in root cause analysis against preferred methodology, accurately and timely, to internal and external customers.
3. Compile statistics and infer trends from available safety data, using critical thinking.
4. Provide guidance and advice at all levels of the business.
5. Support managers to implement policies and procedures regarding health and safety.
6. Assist in the design and implementation of strategies for ensuring H&S regulations are followed and improved.
7. Review and develop H&S policy and frameworks for existing and new processes.
8. Assist in formulating improvement plans for H&S including setting short and long-term objectives, priorities, and performance standards.
9. Audit and review H&S management standards, systems, and processes.
10. Monitor the changing business risk profile and highlight emerging risks.
11. Ensure best practice is achieved in conjunction with legal compliance.
12. Advise and assist in promoting a positive H&S culture.
13. Support the business to ensure compliance with legislation and a reduction in the cost of accidents and ill health.
14. Provide authoritative and independent advice.
15. Attend and contribute to local and business H&S meetings.
16. Research topics and provide credible sources of information to the business.
17. Liaise with internal and external legal representatives relating to personal injury claims.
18. Undertake project work to support the improvement of the H&S management system.
19. Complete gap analysis in strategy and processes to ensure best-in-class H&S management.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
1. Currently hold or be working towards GRAD IOSH level.
2. Hold an industry-recognised H&S qualification.
3. Auditing experience/qualification desirable.
4. Be confident to stop work if it contravenes agreed standards.
5. Take personal responsibility for H&S and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
6. Hold the status and competence to advise management at all levels.
7. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organisation.
8. Build and maintain relationships at all levels.
9. Ability to work on poorly defined or ambiguous problems.
10. Ability to cope in a demanding and high-pressure environment.
11. Ability to work solo, but not in silo.
12. Be an analytical and critical thinker.
13. Be able to travel, with overnight stays where business dictates.
14. Knowledge and competence in Microsoft Office Applications.
