Job specification
Location: Swindon
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract type: Permanent
Job reference: RNR002563
Interview date: w/c 03/02/2025

At Swindon Borough Council, we want our town to be the best it can be. Our ambitious vision in the new Swindon Plan is supported by realistic transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. Because that’s who we’re doing it for – the communities and businesses that make our town great.
We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team as we look to transform the way in which travel across Swindon is delivered to our children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
As part of our restructure, we are creating an Independent Travel Hub. This role will support the independent travel hub vision, and you will be responsible for your own caseload of Travel Assistance for the young people of Swindon.
Your next role
As a Transport Coordinator, you will need to be an excellent communicator and have the confidence to work with a range of stakeholders including children, young people, vulnerable adults, families, schools, and other settings.
You will bring exceptional time management, interpersonal, and organisational skills along with a background in supporting children, young people, and vulnerable adults within local authorities, charities, or private sector organisations.
The nature of the role means that there may be some requirement to work outside of usual office hours, including evenings and weekends by negotiation. You are an excellent team player and a committed individual who can also work independently.
Your knowledge of safeguarding, lone working, multi-agency engagement, evidenced-based decisions, and supporting children, young people, and vulnerable adults makes you our ideal candidate. So too is your commitment to supporting people and making a difference.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
As an employee, you will receive a diverse and exciting environment in which to work, encouraging creativity and innovation whilst recognising the need to support ongoing personal development and a flexible work-life balance.
For Swindon to thrive in the future, we need to lay the foundations now. You’ll be joining us at an exciting time on our journey. We’ll look to you to share your knowledge, influence decisions, and drive real, positive change.
