The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing improvements of installed assets and supporting tooling in the mineral processing industry. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches and contribute to innovation initiatives within the organization.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct research and analyze customer needs to identify opportunities for product improvements.
2. Design and develop new mechanical components and systems using CAD software and other relevant tools.
3. Perform stress analysis and optimization studies to improve component performance and reduce costs.
4. Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical components with control systems and instrumentation.
5. Develop detailed technical specifications and documentation for products.
6. Lead and participate in product testing and validation activities.
7. Provide support during manufacturing start-up and commissioning of new equipment.
8. Contribute to the development of intellectual property (IP) strategies related to product designs.
9. Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in the mineral processing industry and apply them to enhance product offerings.
Qualifications:
10. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
11. Minimum of 10 years of work experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the mineral processing industry.
12. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and document control systems.
13. Strong knowledge of material properties and selection criteria.
14. Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational DEM.
15. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
16. Ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
