Job Description This position is an essential part of Sherwin’s manufacturing team. This position is responsible for assisting the Maintenance and/or Engineering Manager or Supervisor while contributing to the proper maintenance of equipment, machinery, and facility as a maintenance technician. This position performs various maintenance tasks as assigned and is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and productive working environment. This role is responsible for the planning of a small team. Responsibilities The enforcement of safe systems of work and holding those below them in the management structure accountable for their health and safety performance. The provision of safe equipment, safe working environment and ensuring all employees/contractors are provided with and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. Ensure that employees within their department are adequately informed, instructed, trained and supervised to safely carry out work for which they are engaged. Ensure a safe working environment, striving for zero recordable injuries in compliance with internal policies and external legislation, through the delivery of key enabling activities (e.g. Near Misses, Safety Observations, timely completion of actions). Ensure that safety and environmental incidents are fully investigated and the appropriate countermeasures established. Performs other duties as assigned Drive the site towards a high level of planned maintenance through the use of historical data and Condition Based Monitoring. Provide Technical support and guidance to the Engineering Team. Direct liaison with internal stakeholders to ensure Maintenance resource is correctly prioritised and assigned. Contributes to Management of Change and Commissioning processes to ensure equipment is handed over to relevant parties in a safe and fit for purpose condition. Proactively drives Engineering Continuous Improvements to increase Production volumes and enhance site safety to exceed the standards expected from a SEVESO/ COMAH and Sherwin Williams site. Supporting member of HAZOP’s and process design where required/invited. Supports the site with SEVESO/COMAH actions relating to Maintenance activities.(remove if not relevant) Act as Site custodian/facilitator of Maintenance related activities for Rx (where relevant). Drives the Engineering department to consistent and safe methods of work through Risk Assessments and procedures. Manages apportioned value of the Engineering budget to ensure budget is achieved. Contributing to the Engineering Management System by issuing Engineering Procedures and Maintenance worksheets. Champion of Reliability Excellence (Rx) including Asset Criticality assignment and critical spare parts management (where relevant) Contributor to the Engineering BMS report. Ownership of the Reliability Excellence (Rx) metrics and Interrogating the Rx data to identify opportunities for Maintenance Improvements (where relevant). To cover the responsibilities of the Engineering Manager when the Engineering Manager is off site. Processing MIRA actions and Near Miss reports that are applicable to Maintenance. Qualifications Engineering Apprenticeship. Engineering degree or working towards or equivalent professional registration. 3 year’s experience in a Hazardous manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of Management of relevant country Health and Safety legislation. Experience of Computer Maintenance Management Systems. 2 years experience of RAMS and PTW issuing/approving. PSM would be advantageous Regulatory understanding, including country specific legislation, PSSR, LOLER, PUWER, SEVESO/COMAH. Working knowledge of ATEX and DSEAR. Experience with CMMS. Commissioning and Management of Change. Competent in Microsoft Office Packages, word, Excel etc. An effective communicator across all departments. A hands on approach and ‘can do’ attitude. High standard of work and personal ethics. Team player. Open and Approachable. A strong customer focus, internally and externally. Works well under pressure.
