We are seeking an experienced Change Lead to join the Strategic Delivery & Transformation Team at Wellcome Sanger Institute on a 2 year fixed contract. Sanger is embarking on a digital transformation which includes implementing a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool to modernise our finance, procurement & supply chain, and grant management systems. About the role: The majority of this role’s function is to support the transformation for our teams as we embrace this new system but has a broader remit to support the wider Change & Transformation Team through other change projects and initiatives across the Institute. As with all transformations, this ERP implementation will lead to new challenges for the teams and their internal customers as their roles evolve and the processes change alongside a wider backdrop of activity as we embrace a new organisational strategy. As part of the wider remit, you will support two key activities: Supporting discreet projects through the project teams, Managers, Line Managers and teams going through changes as a change manager. Our model is to operate alongside the team to build a change plan which is integrated into the delivery plan that supports and addressing reactions, resistances and builds resilience to change. This will also involve conversations with senior leaders to shape the change and the activity appropriately and possibly suggest re-shaping or re-ordering the work. Helping to build, improve and embed sustainable change frameworks, processes, tools, methodologies and change management thinking across the Institute including supporting the creation of a network of Change Ambassadors. You will be responsible for: Collaborating with the project team to deliver the change management plan and ensure a smooth transition to the ERP system. Work with the wider team to support impacted teams and stakeholders to embed new ways of working, address user feedback and resolve issues during post-implementation stabilisation. Using your strong interpersonal skills to develop trusting relationships with stakeholders and Project Managers, identifying, supporting and addressing reactions, resistances and building resilience to change. Identifying, tracking, and managing change risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating to the AD of Strategy & Transformation or governance forums as necessary. Communicating effectively with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation, using appropriate methods, including planning and leading workshops and feedback sessions. About You: You will ideally be a qualified Change Manager practitioner, and possess a strong understanding of how people go through change and the change process. Following our change framework whilst also having the ability to adapt and bring your own methods, you will be able to demonstrate experience supporting people through large organisational change. You will possess strong skills and ability to build strong relationships and foster trust and engagement quickly. Essential Technical Skills: Change Management Practitioner accreditation or equivalent experience in post Proven experience and knowledge in change and project management preferably within ERP implementation or large-scale IT projects Good understanding of how people go through a change and the change process Proven knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools Experience of process change and process mapping Experience of system change Good understanding of Project Management approaches, tools and lifecycle Experienced in understanding business strategy Experienced leading organisational change initiatives Competencies and Behaviours: High communication skills, both verbal and written Exceptional listening and empathy skills Ability to recognise resistance and provide the right action to gain support for the change Strong influencer at a senior level Ability to engage with people across a range of roles (technical and non-technical role holders) Resilient and able to adapt around a changing environment Excellent team player We know that job descriptions can never fully capture a person’s potential. Other Information: This is a hybrid role. The SD&T team tend to come in to the office on Tuesdays and Thursday but some flexibility around in-person days as the ERP Project progresses may be required.
