More about the role
This role is responsible for providing finance support to the Commercial Grocery Trading Team as Finance Analyst – Planning and Reporting (Grocery). This is a business partnering role that will support our Grocery categories in shaping and delivering the 3-year ‘Next Level Sainsbury’s strategy. Reporting into the Finance Manager – Planning and Reporting, you’ll provide insight, analysis and directly partner key stakeholders to drive business performance.
The role encompasses the following:
* Your role has a strong stakeholder management element, and you will support the buyers and other relevant stakeholders within your category. You’ll also produce a variety of analysis to support decision making, both backwards looking and forward-looking performance.
* Preparing our weekly and monthly reporting packs for distribution to a Director level audience, telling the story on trade and highlighting any material risks and opportunities.
* As a business partner to the Commercial Trading teams, you will support on any finance led deliverables such as Forecasting, Latest view reviews and Budgeting.
* Looking at trends and being able to identify any risks and opportunities and to flag these to the Finance Manager and business partners for onward action.
* Supporting & challenging on any Investment decisions around Business cases and post-investment appraisals.
* Finding ways to simplify processes and improve on these so that they are best in class.
More about you
* Part Qualified / Qualified accountant – CIMA/ACCA/ACA (desirable, but not essential).
* Strong Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight.
* Ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, both verbally and written.
* Self-motivated and able to manage own time.
* Strong commercial acumen, with a focus on driving excellent financial and commercial performance.
* Ability to prioritise and respond accurately under pressure.
* Ability to articulate finance for non-finance.
* Good networking and partnering skills, being able to work collaboratively and build trusted relationships.
