Job Summary:
• To conduct Family Group Conferences and reviews within the service.
• To work with the Team on the development and implementation of Dudley’s Family Group Conferencing Service.
Key Duties/Accountabilities:
1. To contribute to the development and implementation of Havering’s Family Group Conferencing Service.
2. To be responsible for the planning, coordination and facilitation of Family Group Conferences in a way that responds appropriately to the needs of individual families from a diversity of backgrounds.
3. To promote quality planning, decision-making and practice for children and families both within the department and with partner agencies.
4. To initiate contact with children, family members and significant others to outline the Family Group Conferencing process, provide information and literature, negotiate attendance and support involvement before, during and after the meeting.
5. In partnership with Children’s Services and other partner agencies, to make specific and suitable arrangements to prepare the child, and other family members where appropriate, for the meeting and if appropriate to arrange an advocate.
6. To plan and facilitate review conferences to ensure the family plan is effective and improving the outcomes for the children of the family.
7. To ensure the protection of children by assisting Children’s Services in the collection and maintenance of accurate and confidential information within the policies and procedures of the local safeguarding board.
8. To undertake training, attend meetings as required and liaise with the Family Group Conferencing Network.
9. To contribute to the establishment of monitoring and evaluation systems to assess the effectiveness of Family Group Conferencing.
