What will I be doing? We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve: Leading the delivery of the Council’s Asset Management Plan objectives in relation to its key strategy and development sites and opportunities Delivering the Council’s property disposal programme Overseeing the internal town planning consultancy / advisory service within the Property service including the negotiation of S106 and CIL contributions to support the provision of education places. Leading the development of strategies and plans for the council’s most significant development sites. Works with the council’s planning, housing enablement and regeneration functions to facilitate and deliver development. Leading the Council’s most significant and complex site acquisitions and disposals, negotiating to drive long term overall value for the Council. What kind of experience or qualifications do I need? We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you: Be a full member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) with at least 5 years post qualification experience of working in complex organisations Have well-developed commercial acumen, strategy development and negotiation skills are essential Show extensive knowledge of planning, real estate development and asset management strategy in a local authority context including detailed understanding of development, education site acquisition and developer contributions.
