PhD Studentship/Research Assistant: The University of Cambridge’s Department of Zoology is hiring a Research Assistant to work in the Insect Biomechanics Group under Walter Federle’s supervision. The position will be open for 36 months, starting on April 1, 2024. A Human Frontiers Science Program (HFSP) grant funds the post, and the chosen applicant will likely enroll in the University of Cambridge’s PhD program. Through biological, chemical, and physical methods, the project aims to investigate the functions of the cuticular lipid layer on the body surface of insects, including waterproofing, communication, joint lubrication, and surface adhesion.
