Vetro Education are seeking a dedicated and proactive Science Technician to take up a long term role in a vibrant and supportive secondary school in Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf. This is a full-time position, offering an exciting opportunity to support science education within a well-resourced and dynamic secondary school setting. The role is for maternity cover, beginning in June 2025 and lasting up to 12 months.
Location: Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf
Pay: £90.00 per day minimum
Position: Full-time, 830am-330pm (Monday to Friday)

Duration: Maternity Cover (Up to 12 Months)
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing and maintaining science equipment and resources for practical lessons.
Ensure laboratories are stocked with necessary materials and supplies, and help set up experiments.
Support science teachers during practical lessons, ensuring health and safety regulations are followed.
Perform routine maintenance and calibration of scientific equipment.
Assist with the preparation of risk assessments for practical activities.
Support the science department with any administrative tasks as required.

What you'll need to be successful as a Science Technician
A strong interest in science and education.
Previous experience as a science technician, or a relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ or BTEC in Science or Laboratory Support).
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
A good understanding of health and safety regulations within a laboratory environment.
The ability to support a wide range of scientific disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
