The Role
To work within a multidisciplinary Psychological Therapies team providing evidence-based treatments for individuals with moderate psychological disorders. This will involve a mix of individual clinical work and involvement in the provision of group interventions.
To provide Psychological therapies to adults with a wide range of mental health problems including anxiety and depressive disorders
To manage own caseload within specialty area using specialist techniques and maintain clinical related records.
To work with colleagues, and other mental health professionals to provide a psychology service to patients.
To contribute to service delivery and to participate in service evaluation within the area as directed.

What we'll need you to bring
The post holder must have an honours degree in psychology (eligible for GBR) and a post-graduate Masters level (or equivalent) degree in Psychological Therapy.
Relevant clinical experience
Have knowledge of relevant national and professional guidelines for optimal standards of clinical care.
Have some knowledge of Psychiatry and other related professions in order to understand complex clinical presentation.
Excellent communication skills
Be aware of the limits of one's competence and expertise and work within those boundaries (particularly in the initial postgraduate year).
Work in a sensitive manner with respect for diversity in gender, ethnic, culture and philosophical issues with a wide range of individuals
Commitment to ongoing Continuing Professional Development
Attend in-house and external courses pertaining to computer training, moving and handling, management of aggression and violence, lone worker guidelines etc.
It would be great if you also have
Good Honours degree in Psychology (normally 2:1 or above)
Graduate Basis for registration
Post graduate Masters level degree in Psychological Therapy, Primary Care (Adult)
Graduate member of the British Psychological Society
Experience of working with clients presenting psychological difficulties associated with trauma
Experience of delivery of training to staff
Experience of offering consultation to multidisciplinary staff groups within Adult Mental Health Services
Awareness of presentation of psychiatric difficulties
Post graduate level knowledge of one or more models of psychological therapy (cognitive behaviour therapy, person centred therapy, biopsychosocial model
Ability to utilise supervision appropriately
IT literacy and keyboard skill.
Ability to organise own clinical/administrative duties
Awareness of need to recognise own competency limitation and of the need to seek advice at an early stage
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Awareness of need for professionalism at all times, in behaviour, maintaining confidentiality, appropriate dress, punctuality and reliability
Ability to communicate empathically and sensitively when required, particularly in emotive situations
Awareness of need for respect for others in a work/learning situation

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
NHS Lanarkshire will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly.
