An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior ANNP to work on the medical neonatal intensive care Tier 2 rota who seek further experience and training in Neonatology.
We seek to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Senior ANNP to work within the Neonatology Directorate, part of the Perinatal Division of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust at The Royal Oldham Hospital on the Level 3 Neonatal Unit.
You will work exclusively within the Neonatal Unit on a full shift Tier 2 rota (second on-call) (1 in 10) with senior paediatric trainees, senior neonatal clinical fellows, and senior ANNP. The Neonatal Unit is one of Greater Manchester’s 3 tertiary Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) and has 9 Intensive Care cots, 9 High Dependency cots, and 19 Special Care cots, and offers the full spectrum of medical neonatal care. The state-of-the-art unit is housed in the new purpose-built Women and Children’s Building. The unit is led by a dedicated team of experienced consultant neonatologists.
You will be expected to continue your professional development and ample training opportunities are available within the department. The Trust has links with University of Manchester for undergraduate training of medical students and is a major contributor to several research studies in the region.
The Senior ANNP will contribute to the delivery of a responsive, high-quality neonatal service working as part of the Tier 2 medical rota. Within their role, they are expected to take on leadership skills as well as contributing to quality improvement projects, research, audit, and service development.
They will use their advanced skills and knowledge to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for a range of neonates. They will perform neonatal invasive procedures in the care of infants, request and review a variety of investigations to initiate, alter, or update medical management plans.
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing professional standards of care across the spectrum of Neonatology and contribute to the professional development of the wider ANNP and neonatal nursing team, as well as ensuring their own development is maintained.
Within the Senior ANNP role, there will be line management responsibility for the ANNP team based at Oldham.
The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a range of procedural competencies within the neonatal intensive care and attending high-risk deliveries, utilising their advanced skills and knowledge to lead in challenging decision-making.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as a Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled in a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.
The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
