Airbus Helicopters is the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer and the company’s site at Oxford Airport is Britain’s civil helicopter hub.
AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support. Its in-house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military applications.
AHUK is also the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its Defence Helicopter Flying school (referred to as MFTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey).
Description/Overall purpose of the Job
Based in Kidlington, Oxford the Civil Helicopter Service Centre Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Part 145 activities carried out by AHUK Civil Helicopter Hub at Oxford and also line maintenance at customer sites.
A key attribute of this role is the transition to the new base maintenance hangar in Oxford and the implementation of new standards and procedures such that from the very outset we set and achieve the highest standards of aerospace quality and workmanship. The Airbus Operating System (AOS) will be our roadmap to define and maintain these standards.
Since digitalisation is a key enabler for efficiency and competitiveness, the successful job holder will be confident and capable in the use of Envision, SAP, resource planning and other such applications.
Main responsibilities
The Civil Helicopter Service Centre Maintenance Manager has responsibility for the operational delivery of Part 145 maintenance services at our Oxford site as well as Line maintenance activities at our Civil customer sites.
1. Overall responsible for Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery & People at the Oxford and Line maintenance bases.
2. Ensuring personnel planning is managed effectively, including managing the execution of shift patterns and ensuring personnel are appropriately qualified.
3. Liaising with airworthiness personnel at AHUK Airworthiness to facilitate production capacity planning.
4. Liaising with third party airworthiness organisations as required.
5. Management of the AHUK base maintenance supervisors to ensure effective supervision levels are maintained.
6. Management of the AHUK Line Maintenance Manager for line maintenance capacity planning.
7. Retain oversight of any required sub-contracting work.
8. Ensuring that engineer competency is assessed and recorded.
9. Ensuring that AOS standards are set and maintained.
10. Liaison with Customer Support Managers and customers directly to ensure maintenance activities are completed on time, on cost and on quality.
11. Ensuring staff are updated with regular briefings on company and technical information.
12. Provide guidance to AHUK commercial on the cost estimation of proposed aircraft maintenance work.
13. Work with the Maintenance Manager to ensure compliance and assist with the response to non-compliance findings.
14. Participate in the AHUK Transformation project and drive relevant projects and initiatives across Base and Line maintenance teams.
Knowledge and Skills
Proven leadership experience in a Part 145 aircraft maintenance environment.
Excellent knowledge of the regulation relating to Part 145 and Part CAMO.
Experienced rotary aircraft engineer with a solid background in commercial aviation.
Education, Qualifications or Training
Part 66 B1 or B2 Licence with C certifying privileges.
Specific experience relating to the maintenance management of Airbus helicopter types.
Experience that directly relates to the operational profile of AHUK customers.
Degree level qualification in an aircraft maintenance related topic.

Additional requirements
Due to the nature of this position you will require DBS Security Clearance and be eligible for SC clearance.
Applicants must meet any/all requirements of ITAR and Export Compliance Regulations.
Position based at Oxford Airport, UK.
Travel within the UK or abroad to support related business requirements (not extensive).
