Job Overview
The Acute Care Service includes the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), inpatient wards for males and females, and Home Treatment Teams (HTT) for Gwynedd and Anglesey. The service is led clinically by Responsible Clinicians (RCs) for each unit. This post covers the Hergest Male Inpatient ward, providing a substantive, consultant-led acute care service for the two counties.
Main duties of the job
* Responsibility as RC for all female inpatients (excluding functional OPMH patients) on the 17-bedded Aneurin Ward, Hergest Unit.
* Clinical management of female inpatients on Aneurin Ward, including Mental Health Act roles as RC during their stay.
* Attend daily Acute Care Meetings to discuss patient flow, discharges, and potential discharges (15-30 mins each morning).
* Manage complex cases collaboratively with HTT and community CMHTs.
* Provide clinical leadership within the Acute Care setting.
* Develop care plans and treatment strategies based on evidence-based practices.

Person specification
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Desirable qualifications:
* Higher degree in medical education, research, or management.
* MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* Welsh AC Approval.
Eligibility
* GMC registration with a license to practice at appointment.
* On GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT completion.
* CCT or equivalent (confirmation by GMC by AAC date).
* Approved Clinician status or ability to achieve within 3 months.
* Approved under S12 or ability to achieve within 3 months.
Clinical Skills
* Training in core and specialist community psychiatry competencies.
Teaching and Training
* Experience in postgraduate and multidisciplinary teaching.
Research/Audit
* Ability to initiate and undertake original research.
* Experience with relevant audit projects.
Motivation
* Commitment to providing adult mental health services.
Welsh Language Requirements
* Ability to communicate in Welsh.
