The aim of the service is to provide an effective, reliable and responsible Portering, and Transport service throughout the 24 hour period in a comprehensive, safe and timely manner to the Trusts’ patients, visitors and staff.

• To direct and control the hospital porters as a member of the portering team.
• Ordering of porters’ uniforms and equipment associated with the service.
• To hold responsibility for the security and handling of keys
• To act as a working Head Porter assisting with all portering duties where required
• Maintain staff records including staff sickness records in association with the Hotel Services Manager
• Attend relevant meetings
• Involvement in the recruitment and selection process.
• Monitor standards of cleanliness around the site
• Dealing with medical gas orders in conjunction with the Pharmacy Manager where appropriate.
• Co-coordinating transport duties including fuel accounts and vehicle servicing records.
• Organizing porter/transport specific training.
• To maintain the safety and security of the hospital building in conjunction with the hospital staff team, particularly in relation to fire and security incidents, including the use of the CCTV and door monitoring system.
• Be willing to undertake training and development that the Operational Services Manager may think is appropriate to the position.
• Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Management.
