Responsibilities: As a Band 6/7 Locum Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist you will be responsible for providing specialist speech and language therapy services to adult inpatients, focusing on those with acute stroke conditions. This includes conducting comprehensive assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions to address communication and swallowing disorders. You must be competent in managing dysphagia, and if applying for a Band 7 position, you will also be expected to have competencies in tracheostomy and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES). You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to patient care. Additionally, you will maintain accurate patient records, participate in clinical audits, and contribute to the development of speech and language therapy services. Qualifications and Experiences: Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Proven experience in providing speech and language therapy services to adults, particularly in acute settings. Strong clinical skills in assessment, treatment planning, and intervention for dysphagia and other communication disorders. For Band 7 applicants: Competencies in tracheostomy and FEES. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
