Senior Pharmacy Technician – Medication administration - Wing based
Band 5 + Environmental Allowance (£1542 per annum pro-rota) – average 37.5 hours per week - varied shift pattern over 7 days with Agenda for Change terms and conditions.

At HMP Birmingham we are looking to expand our team and have developed an enhanced role for Pharmacy Technicians. You will hold NVQ Level 3, BTEC in Pharmacy, or equivalent qualifications and have current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) to be considered for this role.
A typical day will consist of
• Administration of medications for both physical health and mental health conditions, including opioid substitute therapy and controlled medications
• Medical history taking, physical health observations and screening services.
• Completing in-possession medication risk assessments to support patients in being able to look after their own treatment but also to identify risk and reduce potential harm.
• Participating in health promotion services, for example blood pressure monitoring, carrying out ECGs and phlebotomy services as well as supporting vaccination clinics.
• Providing advice to patients and referring to relevant clinicians for complex issues and chronic disease specialist services
Supervision on a day-to-day basis will be provided by the Primary Care Nurse Team Lead and regular sessions provided in the on-site dispensary to maintain routine pharmacy competencies and appropriate professional supervision and management support.
