SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School in Gosport. GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive secondary school in Gosport. This full-time position involves working 1:1 with a student with Autism, providing essential support to help them thrive in their learning environment. The role offers a competitive daily pay rate of £83.85 to £93.85 and the potential for a permanent contract following a successful probation period. The position is set to start in February. Role Overview As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide 1:1 support to a student with Autism, helping them engage with their learning and overcome any challenges they face in the classroom. You will work closely with the class teacher and other staff to create a positive and supportive environment tailored to the student’s individual needs. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support for a student with Autism, ensuring their academic and emotional needs are met. Assist the student in engaging with the curriculum and classroom activities, adapting materials and strategies to suit their individual learning style. Support the student in developing social and communication skills, promoting positive behaviour. Work alongside teachers, SENCO, and other staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor progress. Assist with daily routines, including providing support during lessons, breaks, and any other school activities. Maintain accurate records of the student’s progress and share feedback with parents, teachers, and other relevant staff. Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages independence and builds confidence. Ideal Candidate: Experience working with students with Autism or other SEN needs is desirable. Transferable skills from the care sector, or personal experience supporting individuals with SEN, will also be considered. A patient, empathetic approach with a passion for helping students succeed. Ability to work as part of a team, liaising effectively with teachers and other professionals. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with students and staff.
