About the Role:
We are seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to oversee and lead the commercial function on a prestigious 60 million construction project based in Bridgend, South Wales. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience working with well-known main contractors, demonstrating a proven ability to manage high-value projects effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the commercial team, ensuring effective delivery of quantity surveying duties on the project.
2. Manage all aspects of project cost control, including forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
3. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
4. Oversee procurement processes, negotiating contracts, and ensuring best value for the project.
5. Monitor and manage project risks, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual obligations.
6. Drive value engineering initiatives and cost-saving opportunities where appropriate.
7. Prepare, validate, and present project valuations and final accounts.
8. Provide mentorship and leadership to junior quantity surveyors and the wider team.
Requirements:
1. Experience: Proven track record in a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor role, managing high-value projects ideally with Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractors.
2. Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline. RICS accreditation is advantageous.
3. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of standard construction contracts (NEC, JCT, etc.), cost management tools, and project controls.
4. Leadership: Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with the capability to motivate and drive team performance.
5. Communication: Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
6. Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the construction market in South Wales and the surrounding areas is desirable.
