About the role
Working as a key member of the People team, you will provide a commercial HR service to our Tax service line. You will manage the HR service delivery and support all elements of the employee experience from joining RSM, to going on family leave, to leaving, and everything in between. You will also work closely with the Senior People Advisor and People Advisory Manager to strategically support a regional area of the business, working on engagement, sense of belonging, wellbeing, diversity & inclusion initiatives. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of the National People Team function with the opportunity to work on strategic national projects.
This role will work closely with 1 other People Advisor in the region; however, the team also includes an Assistant People Advisor and is supported by a People Assistant and a member of our central People Operations Team.
The remit of the role will focus on proactive HR support and advice to your client groups, including completion of the annual bonus and salary review processes, dealing with employee relations issues as they arise, providing wellbeing and absence management support, provision of management information/analysis, and delivery of learning and development initiatives.

About the job
In this role, you will provide generalist HR advice in a number of areas including:
1. Partner Support and Line Management Development: providing support and guidance to key stakeholders, department heads, and line managers to help them manage their areas of responsibility and its ongoing development. Undertaking line management coaching sessions (both individual and group) regarding performance management, grievances, disciplinary, absence management, and coaching skills. You will also work with National Training contacts to provide feedback regarding individual/team training needs analysis and action plans, having regular meetings with Regional Training contacts to discuss trends and outstanding needs.
2. Compensation and Benefits: supporting with the annual bonus and salary review processes for your client groups, reporting into the Senior People Advisor, People Advisory Manager, and HR Business. You will utilise our benchmarking and other market rate information to provide guidance to line managers, reporting any trends and market movements to the Reward team. You will ensure that all correspondence and related administration is managed in a timely manner in liaison with the central People Operations team and will ensure that all offers of employment/contractual terms are in line with our national policy.
3. Employee Relations: providing advice and guidance to partners and line managers to support them in dealing with difficult performance issues up to settlement agreement stage (with approval from the People Advisory Manager). You will ensure that legal and RSM requirements are met and that risk is managed appropriately. You will undertake investigations in relation to grievances, disciplinaries, and capability matters, or will attend such meetings where necessary. You will also take full responsibility for any restructures/redundancy programmes within your areas of the business.
4. Recruitment and Selection: working closely with Talent Acquisition leads for your areas of the business in relation to experienced hire recruitment.
5. Wellbeing and Absence Support: you will be trained to become a Mental Health First Aid champion, providing advice and support to line managers and members of staff in relation to mental health and other absence. You will be involved in complex occupational health/potential PHI cases.
6. Appraisals: responsibility for attending and managing appraisal moderation meetings for your areas of the business, ensuring that appraisal grading distribution is fair. You will also provide advice to line managers in relation to giving constructive feedback, coaching, and setting appropriate objectives.
7. Policies and Procedures: providing advice to the business on the application of all RSM policies and procedures, and involvement in amending/updating our policies where appropriate.
8. Projects: involvement in national HR projects as lead or taking part in local projects as appropriate.
9. Induction and Exit Procedures: ensuring that an appropriate induction is carried out for every joiner, and that they also receive a 6-8 week and 3 month review. Conducting exit interviews for more senior roles, or in contentious situations, as and when required.
10. Reporting: making full use of the HR systems to deliver regular reporting to the business in relation to holiday usage, retention, exit interview feedback/trends, absence trends, etc.
11. Family Leave: providing guidance to individuals, partners, and line managers regarding maternity, paternity, parental, and shared parental leave, promoting the use of shared parental leave amongst all employees.
Requirements
The role requires:
1. A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working at People Advisor level in a generalist role (essential)
2. Experience of investigating disciplinary and grievance cases; conducting redundancy and general consultations (essential)
3. Experience of working independently from line manager (essential)
4. Ability to liaise with and manage stakeholders at all levels (essential)
5. Experience of completing salary review process (preferable)
6. Experience of professional or financial services environment (preferable)
7. Experience of working in a multi-sited environment/role (preferable)
8. CIPD qualified or working towards qualification (preferable)
9. Excellent organisational skills
10. Excellent client service skills
11. Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
