The Physical Health team is expanding!
An exciting opportunity has arisen, do you want to help improve physical health care for inpatient service users at SWLSTG as well as lead on Tissue Viability? If yes, then we want to hear from you!
We have a full time Band 7 role within our growing physical health team managing tissue viability across our in-patient services as well as supporting staff with specialist training in wound management. As such we are looking for an experienced nurse with experience in tissue viability who can also advise staff on physical health complaints and support improvements in physical health care.
We are a key part of the Nursing and Quality Corporate Service Line and work closely with colleagues in the Nursing Development Team. The post holder will be based at our new hospital in Tooting with access to specified training suites designed for the teams sole use.
The post holder will hold a qualification in Tissue Viability or be willing to complete a course within the first year of employment. The role will also involve the development of policies relating to pressure ulcer care and the post holder should be able to provide education to individual wards and units or plan and prepare a training day for staff to attend.
The Physical Health team are responsible for assisting and advising staff on the management of acute and long term physical health complaints, this can vary from attending MDT meetings to the physical review of a service user on the ward.

About our locations:
Springfield University Hospital, Tooting
Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are coming soon. Close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.
The post holder will be responsible for providing wound care advice and education, physical health nursing assessments, care, and treatment for service users with serious mental illness across inpatient wards in a mental health hospital setting.
You will be responsible for delivery of high-quality service and continuity of care by undertaking regular health checks of service users with serious mental illness receiving treatment from the services.
The role also involves supporting and promoting physical wellbeing and educating service users, carers, and colleagues. A key aspect of the role will be monitoring the effectiveness of tissue viability interventions, as well as developing patient care-pathways/Trust-wide clinical guidelines/policies. Specific focus will be on pressure ulcer prevention and management; care planning and staff support may be part of this role.
The post holder will rollout education for all disciplines of staff working with patients with tissue viability complications.
A collaborative approach is essential working within the multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient focused care. The post holder should demonstrate an awareness of local and national nursing agendas.
