Connected Carers
Qualified social workers must ideally have Connected Carers experience in a Fostering Team.
If not, candidates should have fostering experience or strong assessment skills (LAC setting).
Connected Carers Team: Relatives and friends can ask to be assessed and approved as foster carers (for that child). If the child needs to be placed straight away and there is not time for a full assessment, the relative (or other connected person) can sometimes be approved as a temporary foster carer. Candidates will be dealing with complex assessments.
Working expectations: 2 days at home, 3 days out on the job, and working in the office located in Ashton.
3 full-time vacancies available. Can consider a strong candidate on a part-time basis.
£35 pay rate.
As a fostering social worker, you will be involved in securing plans of permanency for Tameside children and contribute to the wider offer for our cared-for children. To achieve this, you will be involved in multi-agency working and work closely with the cared-for children’s team.
As a supervisor to foster carers, you will have experience and extensive knowledge in the Fostering Minimum Standards and The Fostering Regulation Services (England) 2011. You will be part of an exciting team and will play a wider part in offering support, supervision, and training to the whole of the foster carers, alongside your own caseload.
This rewarding role will help ensure our children and young people experience foster carers who are best placed to meet their care needs and with carers who share Tameside’s commitment to securing warm, safe, and nurturing foster placements.
We are looking for social workers with the right values and enthusiasm for relationship strengths-based social work with children and families.
About You:
You will be a qualified social worker with previous work experience and sound interpersonal skills to engage carers and build robust relationships with them and your team. You will be part of the duty system which operates in the service to help find emergency placements for children and will be a part of problem-solving across the services. You will be highly motivated, committed, and passionate about making a difference in the lives of children, young people, and families. Amongst other things, you will be professionally curious with a determination to raise standards and achieve improved outcomes for children and their families. We are looking for candidates with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop positive relationships with children, young people, agencies, and other relevant professionals.
