E.ON UK operates one of the largest Street Lighting Contracting businesses in the UK with a large presence in the East and West Midlands as well as the North West of England. We have four Street Lighting PFI's and work for most local authorities in the areas we operate in. We operate as an ICP and carry out jointing associated with the installation and connection of electrical networks for most of the housing developers in the UK. We have agreements to work on the DNO and IDNO networks in the UK and we are now looking at expanding and growing our Independent Connections Provider business.
To assist with this growth and to meet our current obligations, we are looking for a hardworking Electrician to join our team.
The installation and wiring of street lighting and highway electrical street furniture including testing in line with IET Regulations BS7671 requirements, items of apparatus.
Diagnostic fault finding and rectification on installations, apparatus and component including complete private cable network systems.
Undertake day to day routine maintenance, periodic electrical testing, visual condition inspections as and when required.
The role functions include a 24 hour a day, 7 day per week attendance requirement which will be managed by a mandatory inclusion on a standby rota.
Key Responsibilities of the role
* To install and wire street lighting and highway electrical street furniture.
* Fault finding on apparatus and private cable networks.
* Electrical testing and inspection to BS7671.
* Maintaining street lighting and highway electrical street furniture.
* Ability to be able to connect and joint on private cable networks.
* Drive and operate general and specialist company vehicles appropriate to the role including boom operated MEWP.
* Attend emergency events and fully participate in a 24 hour, 7 day standby rota.
What we need from you
* A demonstrable history of employment in fault diagnosis and rectification with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
* CPCS Competent Operator Card (MEWP Boom) or equivalent.
* A current full driving licence to drive vehicles up to 7500Kg (C1) and experience/training of driving this size of vehicle.
* Current First Aid and Manual Handling certificates.
* A high degree of manual dexterity and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
* A good understanding of the Highways Lighting business.
* A good working knowledge of company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.
* The ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
* The ability to take a professional, courteous, confident and diplomatic approach to customers at all times.
It would be great if you have
* A current NRSWA qualification (Units 2 as minimum) or equivalent.
* Working in the Vicinity of DNO Equipment (G39/1) qualification.
* A CSCS accreditation via the Highways Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS).
