We are looking for an enthusiastic Landscape Assistant/Graduate to join our growing team. The successful applicant must have a passion for sustainable placemaking, as well as a balance of technical knowledge that covers both landscape planning and landscape design work.
We are actively involved with a range of urban public realm streetscape designs through to large-scale landscape planning and detailed hard and soft landscape design, that explore all the current agendas in blue and green infrastructure, increasing biodiversity and sustainability. Many of these projects are at planning stage or moving towards implementation as well as a number already on site, providing an excellent range of experience to enable you to progress in your career.
You will be part of the ‘Placemaking’ team within the company which includes Landscape architects and urban designers. The company has a multi-disciplinary approach to design and integrated services across the business with transport planners, active travel specialists and highway engineers who you will work with closely on projects. This creates an exceptionally innovative approach to design, which PJA is recognised for.
The company has offices across the country that work collectively and we are looking for someone to join our Birmingham team. We have a flexible working policy and can look at a balance between home and office working.
The position would suit a recently chartered Landscape Architect or a candidate on their way to Chartership with at least two years’ experience. You would be someone that can develop design concepts through to sketch design, collaborating with the wider placemaking team to produce drawings and other presentation material for planning submission through to construction. Some knowledge of detail design and the use of KeySCAPES or the capacity to train in this skill is desirable.
We aim to introduce you to project and client work early on, maximising your performance in your role and furthering your career, whilst providing hands-on support and mentorship at all stages.
Other than a personable individual, we are searching for someone with:
* A degree in Landscape Architecture, and a member of the Landscape Institute
* Strong design skills and presentation skills
* Proficiency in the Adobe suite of packages (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
* Confident hand-drawn graphics
* Excellent verbal and written English
* Clean full UK driving license
* Experience in BIM and 3D design will benefit your application as would a knowledge of the English planning system.
