The Position:
The Applications Engineer is a key member of the sales team, responsible for developing proposals and supporting the Sales Account Managers. Key directives include maintaining and servicing specific customer accounts and responding to requests for quotations in a timely and efficient manner, while delivering the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Participate in customer RFQ review meetings, either on-site at the customer or in-house.
2. Prepare cell layout drawings for the various RFQ's.
3. Liaise between mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and assembly manufacturing groups for technical assistance in developing concepts and processes and provide assistance in estimating labor and material costs to meet customer requirements.
4. Liaise with suppliers to obtain estimates of major material and equipment costs required for the preparation of budgets and proposals.
5. Prepare equipment layouts.
6. Write technical specifications.
7. Provide proactive customer design support for vertically integrated components and complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
8. Work with internal and external design and technology functions to create unique specifications and applications.
9. Prepare draft budget and quotation proposals for review with the Applications Supervisor, the Sales Manager and Key Account Managers.
What We’re Looking For:
1. University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
2. 5+ years of applications engineering experience.
3. Must have excellent experience with AutoCAD and Solid Works and be familiar with MS Office.
4. Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical controls and integration of equipment.
5. Experience and working knowledge of most CSA, ANSI and CE standards.
6. Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Expectation of travel up to 30% of time could be anticipated, however may be exceeded in exceptional circumstances to meet project needs.
