The purpose of this role is to produce product Vs Aircraft interfaces and product structure, and maintain it throughout its lifecycle. Additionally, support configuration management, change control, design release, and Airframer data submission.
Key Responsibilities
1. Define SGB Product Vs Aircraft interfaces and validate Airframer requirements.
2. Create and maintain Space Allocation Models (maturity models) as per DMU methodology.
3. Ensure system requirements are adhered to and are validated in the maturity models.
4. Understand and validate Definition Control Model which defines interfaces of mechanical and electrical design with composite design.
5. Create and maintain project LOPA structure, update suite, furniture levels with latest design data from design office.
6. Create Test BOMs for certification team as required for project milestones.
7. Co-ordinate and communicate effectively with all teams involved in project to ensure consistency of the design content among different products: Master Geometry, LOPA, Styling/A-Surface models and kinematics.
8. Maintain clean and clash-free design data throughout project life.
9. Analyse product structures to ensure all the links are correct.
10. Prepare and check data submissions to Airbus, Boeing and other third-party integrators.
11. Prepare, understand and generate DMU problem reports to ensure team philosophies are maintained. Track & measure problems.
12. Ensure DMU tracker is fully updated with latest design data maturity.
13. Check, report & validate 3D model quality, including CATDUA, Q-checker, naming & numbering.
14. Prepare data to facilitate DMU reviews.
15. Contribute to the development of the Best Practice guidelines and support ongoing continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through methods, process and other lean improvements.
16. Ensure compliance with BMS documents, ECRs, Permits, Concessions, etc.
17. Mentor DMU Integrators, Associate / Graduate Engineers / New team members.
Job Requirements
Qualified to a minimum of a degree level.
Alternatively, a HNC / HND or an equivalent qualification with experience in providing services and support within an engineering function - Essential.
A proficient user of Catia V5 / Smarteam - Essential.
Have worked within the Aerospace / Automotive domains - Essential.
Experience of working in mechanical design team - Essential.
Experience of working with Boeing and Airbus specifications - Desirable.
A working knowledge of the engineering release and approval processes - Essential.
