We are recruiting for a Project Design Manager to join our South West Water Team, based from offices in Exeter. The Project Design Manager will work closely with the design team and the Trant operational teams, with a focus on ensuring design output (quality and working to the programme).
This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly awarded Framework and 10 years of work through AMP 8 and AMP 9. The Project Design Manager will work as part of a multi-disciplined team of Engineers responsible for working with the designers to ensure the satisfactory production of design deliverables for process related projects within water, wastewater and biosolids sectors within Devon and Cornwall, including the Isles of Scilly.
The Role:
1. Reporting to the Contracts Manager, duties include but are not limited to;
2. Responsible for coordinating and managing design resources to ensure the efficient and intelligent production of design deliverables against the DORM (Design, Organisation and Responsibilities Matrix) and Project Design Programme
3. Managing the interfaces with third party designs from consultants, subcontractors and suppliers
4. Working with the design consultants to oversee all design output
5. Ensuring the formal design reviews throughout the project cycle as defined within Trant procedures are implemented
6. Managing and providing weekly/monthly reports against the DORM and Contract Programme
7. Monitoring and reporting design expenditure against the DORM and as required put in place strategies for mitigating overspend
8. Managing relationships and communications with Clients and their representatives are established and maintained
Qualifications/Background:
9. MEng/BEng – Civil Engineering or Marine
10. Experience working within design and construction organisations
11. A history of working within the water / wastewater sectors
12. Previous/current experience of working closely with environmental and planning teams would be advantageous
