The Bridge School is a Pupil Referral Unit for secondary aged students, who are excluded or at risk of exclusion from mainstream high schools in the borough of Halton. All students present social, emotional and/or mental health issues, which can manifest in challenging behaviours and communication.
You will be responsible for the building maintenance, cleanliness, security and maintenance of furnishings, fixtures, plant and heavy equipment within the designated school/site locations.
Although you will not have direct work contact with the students you must have the ability to understand some of the issues that underlie the behaviours they demonstrate, and the empathy to value them as individuals and recognise their potential. The ability also to work alongside a hard-working, proud and dedicated team understanding and responding to their needs concerning maintenance, property upkeep and development would be a valuable asset.
Above all you will be a practically minded individual who is flexible in approach and adaptable to the varied nature of challenges that can be presented. The school is developing in size and the ability to respond to new challenges will help. As you will be interacting with staff, visitors and occasionally students you will need to be a positive and effective communicator.
For informal discussions about the post please contact Martin Gaskill, Technical Services Lead at HBC. Telephone no: 07771977681.
You should note that, if successful you will be required to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check or Enhanced DBS Check for Regulated Activity (formerly Criminal Records Bureau). Further information about DBS checks can be found at
The Council and its schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff, workers and volunteers to share this commitment.
