Job Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Lead in Voice and Upper Airway Disorders. This is a clinical specialist post with management responsibility for a small specialist team which includes dysfluency. You will have responsibility for the Voice Service and its continued development and will also be part of the management team for the Community Adult SLT Service. We are looking for an innovative leader with excellent and highly specialist clinical knowledge and skills in Voice, Inducible Laryngeal Obstruction and Cough Hypersensitivity Syndrome. You will have an enthusiasm for creating a dynamic, efficient and effective specialist service and for leading and managing others. You will work well with other professionals and demonstrate a passion for learning including an interest in research and an aptitude for teaching others. The Voice Team is part of the Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy Service. This is a county-wide service with good links with our acute hospital colleagues and supported by a dedicated administration team to provide a high-quality service to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The service has around 30 clinical staff from Bands 4 to 8a. Our priority is on patient centred, holistic care and we understand the importance of supporting staff to develop their skills and interests. To line manage a small team of SLTs working with Voice, UAD and Dysfluency patients. To work as part of the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Management Team, contributing to service planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the Speech and Language Therapy provision to patients within the trust. To undertake a highly specialist caseload in Voice and Upper Airway Disorders, and to provide support for SLTs working with this caseload. To undertake research and audit projects to embed best practice as a regular part of the role and to critically evaluate current research and apply where appropriate to best practice. To provide teaching and support in this clinical field to SLTs within the Adult SLT Service and more widely as appropriate.
