Role Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Residential Children's Home Manager to lead our team and manage the daily operations of our children's home. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care and support for our residents, adhering to all regulatory requirements, and fostering a positive and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the children's home, ensuring a safe, clean, and supportive environment.
* Care Planning: Develop, implement, and regularly review individual care plans tailored to the specific needs of each child, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
* Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and support a team of care staff, providing supervision, training, and development opportunities to maintain high standards of care.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the home meets all Ofsted regulations and other relevant legislation, preparing for and participating in inspections and audits.
* Budget Management: Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with external agencies, including social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals, and families, to coordinate care and support for the children.
* Safeguarding: Ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to, promptly addressing any concerns or incidents.
* Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all children, including weekly reports, care plans, risk assessments, and incident reports.
* Incident Management: Handle challenging situations with composure and professionalism, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
Essential Requirements:
* Qualifications: NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification.
* Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a management role within a residential children's home, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality care.
* Knowledge: Thorough understanding of Ofsted regulations, childcare legislation, and best practices in residential care.
* Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in supervising and developing staff.
* Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and professionals.
* Commitment: A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with a proactive approach to addressing issues.
* Resilience: Ability to work under pressure, handle challenging situations, and make sound decisions in complex scenarios.
Desirable Attributes:
* Specialised Experience: Experience working with children with complex needs, such as behavioural difficulties, trauma, or special educational needs.
* Therapeutic Knowledge: Understanding of therapeutic care models and interventions.
* Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a creative and flexible approach.
* Relationship Building: Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and a wide range of professionals.
