An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Gastroenterology (Hepatology) department for a part time Administrator on a 10 month fixed term contract.
The postholder will be maintaining databases, booking clinic appointments via letter and telephone, sending outcome letters/ emails, and completing general admin duties, including telephone calls and ordering supplies.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate good administrative skills and have previous, relevant secretarial/ administrative experience working within a clinical environment.
They must have experience of working within a busy environment and strong IT skills. A flexible approach to the needs of the department is essential.

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare to patients by providing an administrative service focused on the patient and their individual needs.
The post holder will provide effective and efficient support to a team liaising with patients, doctors, hepatology specialist nurses and other healthcare professionals. The staff member will work consistently to provide high quality customer service and will be professional at all times.

· To work as a member of the Hepatology Administrative team to provide daily assistance, giving confidential administrative support.
· To assist with all administration duties relating to the safe, effective, and responsive day-to-day running of the service.
· To assist in maintaining required levels of access at all times, for patients and referrers of the specialist service.
· Provide a high standard of administration support to the service by typing correspondence and reports, organising meetings, maintaining diaries and managing a comprehensive filing system.
· Organise and manage own workload and act independently within appropriate guidelines.
· To provide a polite and efficient service to visitors if required. Able to negotiate with patients whose first language is not English; preparing new patient medical notes; making patient appointments; entering data onto Excel spreadsheets and databases.
