JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Circuit Finance Officer
Lay Employee in the East Mercia Circuit.
Location: The role is based at the Circuit Office: Rugby Methodist Church Centre, Russelsheim Way, RUGBY, CV22 7TB
Responsible to: The post is a Circuit appointment and will be under the direction of the Circuit Treasurer with line management by the Circuit Office Manager.
The role is a part time permanent position.
Hours: 7.5 hours per week (0.2 fte).
These are the average hours for the role, some weeks fewer than 7.5 hours will be worked, and some weeks more than 7.5 hours will be worked, depending on the financial reporting timetable of the Circuit.
Salary: The salary is £14.00 ph.
Purpose and Objectives: The Circuit Finance Officer is responsible for the financial administration of the Circuit, assisting the Circuit Treasurer by ensuring that accounts receivables / payables are processed in a timely way, and that the Circuit accounts are properly maintained.
Main Responsibilities:
For all money streams (bank accounts, investments etc)
• Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process in the online system (Paxton).
• Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct day book / ledger (Paxton).
• Bring the books to the trial balance stage and provide period returns (actual vs budget) in a timely manner.
• Perform bank reconciliations and ensure any unrecognised transactions are followed up with the bank and that the Circuit Treasurer is informed.
• Ensure any deposit (own account credit) has been processed correctly and follow up with the originator if not.
• Enter data, maintain records and create reports and financial statements for the Circuit Leadership Team and other people as required eg for grant funding reporting etc.
• Process accounts receivable/payable and handle payroll/pension arrangements in a timely manner.
• Process any expenses and initiate payment in a timely manner.
• Process invoices to and from East Mercia.
• Banking.
• Maintain the Assessments Received and Outstanding Invoices spreadsheets
General
• Any other duties and responsibilities, identified by the Superintendent as are within your capabilities and level of responsibility, in order to meet the needs of the Circuit, including providing appropriate administrative support to other ordained staff within the Circuit.
