Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Host to join the team at the Macmillan Unit. The inpatient ward at the Macmillan Unit provides palliative and End of Life Care to patients with life-limiting disease. The successful candidate needs to have good interpersonal skills.
Base Location: Christchurch Hospital

Main Duties of the Job
* To assist and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene, in line with Infection Control guidelines and food safety standards, for the meal delivery service.
* To support the nutritional and social wellbeing of our patients.
* To assist in the preparation of all patient food services, working in conjunction with the ward and specialist teams to provide a high-quality service to patients at the required times, ensuring that the patients' oral intake is adequately reported to the trained nurse.
* To assist in providing a professional and friendly environment for the patients.
* To achieve the operational and timely delivery of a full range of catering services within the ward environment.
* To prepare and serve hot/cold snacks and drinks as requested.
* In conjunction with nursing staff, to ensure that patients are appropriately positioned in the bed/chair to be able to eat and drink safely.
* To keep the patients' beverage area and dining room clean and tidy and restock as required.
* In partnership with the ward cleaner, to take responsibility for the ward kitchen ensuring it is clean and tidy and complies with hygiene requirements.

Qualifications
* Essential: Numeracy and Literacy
* Essential: Good standard of general education
* Desirable: Food Hygiene Certificate
Experience
* Essential: Life experience
* Essential: Experience of employment
* Desirable: Previous experience in healthcare
* Desirable: Previous experience in the NHS
Technical Skills Competency
