Engineering Lead This is a remote position within the UK. We currently don’t provide visa sponsorship. We are a B2B Fintech focusing on disrupting the small business lending market. Our products are used by over 80 leading high street and challenger banks and specialist lenders. Role Description We're looking for ambitious, product-focused engineering leads who also likes to get hands on in the code-base. The role expects the candidate to have an average of 50% coding time and 50% lead/management time. You will be a trusted technical authority within the organisation, responsible for leading and line managing a team of 4-10 engineers across backend, front end and test disciplines, fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity, engineering excellence and continuous improvement. You will feel comfortable interacting with product teams to understand their requirements, whilst helping translate their needs into technical solutions that you can playback to them in an easy to understand manner, all whilst highlighting key risks they may need awareness of. You will be use to fostering a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement to execute on your team's project roadmap with the help of our technical delivery manager. What you will be doing Collaborate closely with your Product Manager and Engineers to optimise execution of a collaboratively agreed and managed backlog. Maintain your team's short and long-term technology strategy while aligning with FXE's broad strategic mission. Empower your team members by trusting them with tasks and projects according to their expertise and ambitions. Provide continuous feedback to all engineers and manage their career development through performance reviews. Be accountable for shipping high-quality, stable, scalable, and secure code with your team. Help with recruiting efforts for hiring engineers to expand our teams. Using your judgement to get involved with coding solutions where your skills are best utilised. Who you will be You have experience leading, managing, coaching, mentoring and scaling high performing tech teams. You are comfortable with ambiguity and are adept at working with stakeholders across a range of technical and non technical disciplines. You have experience managing your team with a balance of compassion and delivery focus ensuring that a sustainable pace is maintained. You have experience across the stack with technologies such as: Coding languages like Java Databases like Postgres and MongoDB Cloud platforms like AWS Knowledge of technologies like Kotlin, Javascript and React are a bonus. You encourage development practices like TDD, CI, CD and know where and how it's appropriate to apply each. You have a passion for solving complex business problems with a balance of technology and people. You have experience identifying cross-cutting problems, proposing solutions, and driving adoption of those solutions across teams with their priorities. You bring excellent written and verbal communication skills and a bias toward open, transparent cultural practices. Benefits This position offers fully-remote work, you must be based within the UK.
