A leading Level 4 LPCB-accredited sprinkler installation company, specializing in high-quality, compliant fire protection systems, is seeking a Design Engineer to join their growing team.
This role focuses on designing and developing fire sprinkler systems that adhere to rigorous safety standards and meet client requirements. The position offers a mix of desk-based design work, collaboration with internal teams, and site visits, making it ideal for detail-oriented individuals with strong technical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
System Design
Produce detailed and compliant fire sprinkler system designs in accordance with BS 9251, BS EN 12845, NFPA, and other relevant standards.
Utilize CAD software to create technical drawings and layouts for fire protection systems.
Perform hydraulic calculations to ensure designs meet performance and safety requirements.Technical Collaboration
Collaborate with proposal and project teams to align designs with client needs and project specifications.
Provide technical expertise and support to sales and engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Liaise with suppliers to specify and source suitable components, ensuring compatibility and compliance.Site Assessment and Support
Conduct site visits to evaluate project requirements and feasibility.
Offer technical guidance on-site during installation phases as necessary.Compliance and Documentation
Prepare and maintain accurate design documentation, including drawings, calculations, and specifications.
Ensure all designs meet industry standards, company protocols, and regulatory requirements.Qualifications and Experience
Essential
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a design engineering role within fire safety or a related industry.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and hydraulic calculation tools.
In-depth knowledge of fire sprinkler systems and components (e.g., Tyco, Viking, Fike, Victaulic).
Familiarity with industry standards such as BS 9251, BS EN 12845, and NFPA.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Experience in performing Full Hydraulic Calculations (FHC).Desirable
Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with site surveys and project planning.
Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes.Ideal Candidate
