Locomotive Maintainer - Didcot
GBP27.44 per hour - Umbrella paid (Inside IR35) - minimum 42 hours per week
Situation.
If you are a skilled mechanical or dual skilled (mechanical & electrical) Technician with a sound understanding of engineering maintenance principles, then you may have what we are looking for to make the switch.
Typical automotive backgrounds could be HGV or PSV within a dealer such as DAF, MAN or Volvo. Alternatively, perhaps you worked as a Master Technician on light vehicles or light goods vehicles, or maybe you worked on aircraft or within the aerospace industry on maintenance hangars and are looking to take a step into something different. This could be the opportunity you have been looking for!

You will have a fantastic opportunity to work for the UK s largest rail freight company who are responsible for transporting everything from cereals to petroleum and steel.
Your New Opportunity
You will have a great opportunity of building your skills on safety critical rail vehicles, carrying out maintenance and repairs to a large fleet of vehicles such as locomotives and wagons at the Didcot Depot.
The Candidate
* You will be comfortable with maintenance procedures of mechanical components such as brakes, suspension, and wheelsets.
* You will understand electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and diesel engine maintenance principles.
* You will be able to complete engineering instructions, follow strict guidelines, and work to written specifications set by our client on how they wish for their rail vehicles to be maintained.
* Full training on the systems and procedures will be provided, taking place in the Midlands, and you will need to be flexible to stay away from home for an initial 3 to 4 week period during weekdays.
* You will understand the use of hand tools such as torque wrenches and be physically fit enough to handle them effectively.
Essential
* You will need to have an NVQ Level 3 in order to qualify for this role; this doesn't have to be rail specific but will need to be of a mechanical, electrical, or engineering based nature.
* This vacancy is an immediate requirement and immediate start is available for the right candidate.
* You must be able to work on a Saturday.
* You must be able to pass drug & alcohol testing and medical screening.
Desirable
* Previous experience in a similar role.
