Job overview
Are you a registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social worker with experience, or interest, in Mental Health? Are you particularly interested in Eating Disorders in Children & Young People?
We are looking for a registered professional to join our dedicated community Children & Young People Eating Disorders team based at Hospital Road, Bury St Edmunds. The role is offered on a 0.6 wte basis (22.5 hours per week but may be some room to increase hours) working weekdays only for a fixed term of 12 months to cover maternity leave.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will need a level head and be aware of the operational pressures of providing specialist mental health services. As a team we take pride in supporting staff and providing an induction to the area and to people’s individual needs and experience. We welcome newly qualified nurses who we can support to develop and enhance your own skills and interests.
When you join us, you can expect to be trained to provide NICE concordant treatment to young people with a diagnosis of an eating disorder, often with co-morbidities and complex needs.
Working primarily with children and adolescents, you will contribute to ongoing team and service development to meet the complex needs of the children and their families. The post holder will be responsible for a delegated caseload with support from a senior Nurse.
Working alongside a multi-disciplinary team you will provide assessments, contribute to the coordination of care plans, providing direct therapeutic interventions to children and young people as well as supporting their families and carers.
Responsibilities include developing and maintaining effective working relationships with local paediatric inpatient unit supporting admissions to this unit as required.

We provide a community-based age inclusive Eating Disorder Service for Children and Young People and Adults presenting with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder (children only) and related diagnoses. This role is within our Children & Young People’s Team providing timely access to integrated high quality, multi-disciplinary mental health services to ensure effective assessment, treatment and support for them and their families.

Person specification
Knowledge
* Nursing degree or equivalent, Dip OT, Clinical Psychology or equivalent
* Mentorship qualification or ENB 998. Willingness to train to become Signoff Mentor
* Good to great management course, or equivalent
Experience
* Able to demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge of mental health practice from previous experience
* Experience in working in team delivering person centred treatment packages
* Experience in the delivery of clinical interventions
* Experience in delivering group based interventions
