We are now looking for a colleague to join our team in Bedford, United Kingdom as a Technical Manager - Generator & Switchgear Services.
Job overview: As a Technical Manager - Generator & Switchgear Services, you will support the Engineering Manager with ensuring the field engineering team is trained to a high standard and able to carry out their engineering duties safely and to industry standards. This includes writing training material and delivering training in both the Vertiv training centre and in the field. You will assist and manage aspects of the remedial business, assist with quotations, and ensure remedial works are organized and completed successfully, including the delivery of electrical projects. You will also provide support to both internal and external customers.
Your Core Responsibilities:
* Support the back-office team & Engineering Manager in raising the standard of engineers' recommendations and general engineering.
* Contribute technically towards the service quotations process.
* Offer technical guidance and support to the back-office staff and Engineering Manager when necessary.
* Attend customer sites to assist with the quotation process and sale of our offerings.
* Assess and control all risks (health, safety and environmental) identified for all standard activities and premises.
* Identify and comply with all relevant legislation.
* Ensure all contractors and subcontractors are vetted, approved, and appropriate for use.
* Ensure safe working practices with appropriate procedures, prevention measures & precautions are in place.
* Identify and implement improvement actions for all adverse events.
* Increase awareness of the management system and elements of operation, health and safety, and environmental management.
* Contribute towards the review of common Safety Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all FSE activity across the UK business.
* Ensure all Engineers receive sufficient training to carry out their roles safely.
In order to be successful in this role you will need to have:
* 5 years’ experience as a Generator service engineer.
* 10 years in the Generator Industry or similar.
* Strong focus on customer satisfaction and long-term customer relationship building.
* HNC / HND in Electrical/Electronic engineering or equivalent experience.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Self-motivated and capable of operating with minimal supervision.
* Ability to successfully interface with various departments and personnel in potentially stressful situations.
* A recognized team leader and strong communicator.
* Service Operations requires a 24-hour commitment, and working may often be necessary.
* Clean Driving License.
* Experience in delivering training.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint, and willingness to learn specific Vertiv business systems.
