Job summary Consultants in Anaesthesia Poole and Bournemouth Hospitals are reconfiguring services to improve access to specialist and consultant care for emergency pathways and ensure high quality, high volume patient-centred elective care by redeveloping these two Trusts into Major Emergency and Major Planned Care sites. This is part of a wider Dorset vision to transform our hospitals, community services and primary care to enable us to meet the needs of local people and deliver better outcomes for patients. This is an exciting opportunity for applicants to play a key role in developing services. These posts are the result of a demand/capacity gap analysis. The post are full-time10PA contracts (which include 1.5SPA, with additional SPA for defined roles, and the opportunity to take an optional additional PA) and includes contribution to the out of hours consultant on call rota. We are building new state of the art theatres at Poole in the near future. Bournemouth will become the major emergency hospital with major surgery, critical care, obstetrics, trauma and paediatrics and Poole the planned care site with a high volume of elective surgery. There will be significant capital investment in this project with additional new build theatres at Poole.
